JPEPL provides advanced tailings thickening and dry stacking solutions that help mining operations maximize water recovery, reduce tailings disposal costs, and comply with evolving environmental regulations. By combining proven technologies with engineering expertise, we enable mines to achieve sustainable tailings management while improving operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
Increase Water Recovery & Lower Tailings Disposal Costs
Mining operations today face increasing environmental regulations, growing water scarcity, and the need for safer, more sustainable tailings management practices. These challenges are particularly significant for mines operating in remote locations or arid regions where water conservation is critical.
JPEPL partners with customers to deliver innovative tailings management solutions that improve process performance, reduce environmental risks, and support long-term operational sustainability.
Proven Industry Experience
JPEPL has established an impressive track record by:
- Designing 10+ Tailings Thickener & Dry Stacking (TTD) Systems for Iron Ore Tailings projects across India.
- Supplying WesTech DeepBed® and HiDensity® Paste Thickeners for large-scale mining applications.
- Delivering reliable engineering solutions for efficient water recovery and tailings disposal.
Improve Your Surface Stacking Capability
JPEPL combines the highly reliable WesTech DeepBed® and HiDensity® Paste Thickening technologies to produce underflow with higher solids concentration and the appropriate yield stress required for effective surface stacking.
Where Filter Press systems are specified by the customer or consultant, the higher solids content of the thickener underflow provides significant advantages by:
- Reducing the number of Filter Press units required.
- Improving Filter Press performance.
- Producing lower moisture filter cakes.
- Enhancing dry stacking efficiency.
- Reducing capital and operating costs.

What is Surface Stacking?
Surface stacking is the disposal of thickened tailings in the form of a paste on the ground surface.
Unlike conventional tailings ponds, paste tailings remain as a non-settling, non-segregating suspension. The entrained water continuously rises to the surface through capillary action, allowing the deposited tailings to dry much faster.
This process minimizes water release into the impoundment and significantly improves water recovery.
Benefits of Surface Stacking
Surface stacking offers several advantages over conventional tailings pond disposal methods:
- Higher water recovery
- Reduced tailings storage footprint
- Lower containment breach risks
- Reduced groundwater contamination
- Faster drying of deposited tailings
- Improved environmental compliance
- Easier site reclamation and closure
- Reduced long-term operating costs
As a result, surface stacking has become one of the preferred tailings disposal methods adopted by mining operations worldwide.
