Description of Specific Features
Shaft
The shaft diameter is 1000, 1400 or 1800 mm. It includes 24 or 30 internal trapezoidal section manifolds, specially designed for high hydraulic capacities. The shaft is supported by two small diameter roller bearings.
Disc
Each disc consists of 30, 48 or 60 sectors, each of them being simply but strongly fitted onto the shaft. Each disc is surrounded by a solid rim that does not need to be taken down for sector replacement.
Sectors
The weight of a sector is between 5 and 18 kg, depending on the required filtering area. It can be easily handled by one operator. The total hydraulic cross-section of the sector outlet pipe is higher than with any other disc filter design.
Distribution Valve
It has one air and one liquid outlet. No filtrate receivers are needed anymore for their separation. It is fitted with a 5 to 50% cake formation zone adjustment device, which can be automated when required.
Drive
The filter is driven by an AC motor, a straight gear or planetary type gearbox, and a frequency speed variator. The maximum disc rotation speed is 5 rpm.
Key Advantages
High Specific Capacity
With such a design, and according to hydrate characteristics, the maximum specific throughput of dry solid for a High Speed Vacuum Disc Filter is around 7.5 t/m²/h. The residual moisture of the filter cake ranges between 10 and 20%, depending on hydrate particle size distribution.
Rigidity of the Discs

Each sector is locked into its housing by means of a sector fixing ring. Sector replacement only takes 1 or 2 minutes. As the disc is fitted with a large number of smaller sectors, greater rigidity is achieved.

Larger Standard Sizes
Thanks to both the high hydraulic limit of all components and the high rigidity of the disc assembly, its diameter ranges from 3.4 to 7.5 m. Units are made of one to five discs, with a maximum filtration area of 375 m².
Higher Operation Rotation Speed
30, 48 or 60 sectors per disc are connected to 15, 24 or 30 manifolds internal to the shaft. Despite the high number of sectors per disc, the number of blowbacks per rotation is minimized, allowing high operating rotation speeds while maintaining excellent cake discharge efficiency.

Compressed Air Consumption and Filter Cloth Life
Classical disc filters are fitted with 12 to 30 sectors per disc. Because of the smaller size of the sectors and, for the same rotation speed, blowback air consumption is reduced to about half, while the life of the filter cloths is doubled.
